一、含义不同

1、other

adj. 其他的；另外的；另一边。pron. 其他(人或物)。adv. 以其他方式

2、the other

（两个中的）另一个。

3、another

adj. 另一的；再一个的。pron. 另一个；类似的一个；别的

4、others

二、用法不同

1、other

other用作形容词作“别的，其他的，另外的”解时，常用来修饰复数名词或不可数名词; 如前面有this，that，some，any，each，every，no，none，one等词时，也可用来修饰单数名词。

other用在the或形容词性物主代词之后时，与单数名词连用表示“(两个中的)另一个”；与复数名词连用表示某一集体中“其余的，剩下的(人或物)”。

2、the other

the other指两个人或物中的一个，只能用the other，不能用another，此时的other作代词。

the other后可加单数名词，也可加复数名词，此时的other还是用作形容词。经常与one搭配，the other one表示另一个的意思

3、another

another用作形容词的基本意思是“(又)另一个的”，主要指同类中又多一(个)的或与前述不同的另一个的，在句中只用作定语。another后常接单数可数名词，但当复数名词前有基数词或few时，也可用another修饰。

another这个形容词是由an和other两词合缀而成，因此它不能加冠词或其他限定性的形容词。

4、others

other用作代词时常用于复数形式，表示“其他的，别的或另外的人〔事物〕”; others若用于the或表示所属关系的限定词后，则表示“其余的人〔事物〕”，即把剩下的全部包括在内。

1、other

other表示“别的”,“另外的”，只能与复数名词连用。但other前有冠词the即可与单数名词连用。

2、the other

可表示“另外一个的”，the other用于两者之间，指特定的某人或某物之外的“另一个”“剩下的”。

表示“另一个”的意思，the other指两个人或两样事物中的“另一个”。

3、another

可表示“另外一个的”，another指特定的某人或某物之外的“任何一个”，用于三者以。

表示“另一个”的意思，another指不定数目中的“另一个”。

表示除去一部分后的另一些，但不是剩下的全体。

三、用法不同

1.another

用法：指多者当中（指三者以上）的任何一个，一般修饰名词或代词。

2.other

用法：形容词，意思是“其他的”，一般放在名词前。

3.the other

用法：是两者中的另一个，它是代词，代替两者中的另一个。

4.others

用法：是代词，代替其它的人或物，不特指，也就是没有范围的其它人或物。

三、another和other,others.的意思与区别

1.another=an+other，既可作形容词，也可作代词，只能用于三个或更多的人或物，泛指同类事物中的三者或三者以上的“另一个”，只能代替或修饰单数可数名词。
2.other可作形容词或代词，做形容词时，意思是“别的，其他”，泛指“其他的（人或物）”。
3.others是other的复数形式，泛指“另外几个”，“其余的”。在句中可作主语、宾语。

用法区别：
1.指单数时，若泛指用 another，若特指用  the other(后接单数名词)。
2.指复数时，若泛指用 other(后接复数名词)，若特指用 the other(后接复数名词)。 
3.others 永远表示复数意义，且其后不能再接名词。其用法大致相当于“other+复数名词”，同样地 the others 大致相当于“the other＋复数名词”。 
4.another一般只能表单数，且其后接名词时也只能接单数名词。但是若其后有数词或 few 修饰时，则也可接复数名词。
